My Top 6 Low Calorie Drinks from Starbucks

Updates / Monday, June 11th, 2018

The first time I went to log a Starbucks Venti White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino into MyFitnessPal, it was like those commercials where the record scratches and everything fades to black and white.

At 550 calories and 86g of sugar (almost 7 tablespoons), I was drinking around a third of the calories I should be consuming in an entire day in less than a half hour.

I did some research and realized I was being ridiculous with my expectations of how delicious and large a drink could be without ruining my daily caloric intake. After some expectation lowering and nutritional menu reading, I started to get an idea of what I could realistically expect out of a low-calorie Starbucks drink.

I went in with low hopes and was positive I was going to hate everything I tried (nothing like a positive mindset) but I actually found my new favorite drink for only 80 calories. Cue the cheering from my favorite jeans I’d like to still fit into next year.

Here are my six favorite low-calorie Starbucks drinks I’ve tried:

6. Very Berry Hibiscus Starbucks Refreshers Beverage; 60 calories for a tall

Real fruit juice, whole blackberries, with lightly caffeinated green coffee extract. I hadn’t heard of this drink before researching and I actually really liked it. It would be a good spring/summer drink because it’s light, fruity and really hydrating.

5. Iced Nonfat Chai Latte; 150 calories for a tall

Black tea infused with cinnamon, clove, and other warm spices, nonfat milk, and ice. I love this one hot or iced during fall because it’s spiced but not overwhelming like the Pumpkin Spice Latte is. I want to try this one again when it cools down (in Indiana this could mean sometime this week, realistically).

4. Light Blended Caramel Frappuccino; 100 calories for a tall

Caramel syrup, Frappuccino roast coffee, nonfat milk, blended with ice. This drink is great when I’m craving a blended drink but I don’t want to blow 500 calories drinking pure sugar.

3. Iced Skinny Cinnamon Dolce Latte; 60 calories for a tall

Espresso, steamed nonfat milk, sugar-free cinnamon dolce flavored syrup, cinnamon dolce topping, served over ice. Ordering a drink “skinny” tells your barista to use nonfat milk and sugar-free syrup, which cuts down on unnecessary calories. I would order this with blonde espresso personally because I’m obsessed with how great it is, but either way this is a really good drink that’s under 100 calories.

2. Strawberry Açaí Refresher; 80 calories for a tall

Strawberry flavors accented by açaí, passion fruit, and lightly-caffeinated green coffee extract. This is a great drink when you don’t love the taste of coffee or if you just want something fruity and light. Definitely a close second for my favorite drink.

Skinny Vanilla Latte - Brogan + Lynn

1. Iced Blonde Skinny Vanilla Latte; 60 calories for a tall

Blonde espresso, steamed nonfat milk, sugar-free vanilla-flavored syrup, served over ice. This is my all-time favorite drink now. The blonde espresso is less bitter than the regular, and it’s still really sweet without putting me into a sugar coma. This is my go-to drink when I go to Starbucks and it’s good Iced (60 calories) or Hot (100 calories).

If you’re not into espresso, you can order a Sugar Free Vanilla Iced Coffee with half & half to drop your caffeine intake, for only 45 calories in a Grande.

Searching low-calorie Starbucks drinks gives you nearly 1,380,000 results on Google, so there’s bound to be other great drinks I haven’t heard of yet that I need to try. I’ve tried to cut back on how much I spend on fast food or drinks, but Starbucks has been my hardest thing to give up, especially after realizing I can easily fit it in my diet plan.

If you have a favorite low-calorie drink I’m missing, let me know.

  6. Great list! My fave go-to is a hot or iced, blonde americano with 1 packet of honey & extra almond or oatmilk. The honey packet contains 15 calories & almond milk is less than 1 cal. Oatmilk could add up to 5 cals depending on how much “extra” they add but it’s also pretty minimal. I’m with you on the vlonde espresso; lighter, sweeter, and very tasty. Cheers to 15 cals for the win!
